Glass – A Life in Sound is a theatrical concert performance in which actor Sebastien Dewaele brings the life of Philip Glass to the stage through a compelling narrative, while pianist Veronique Vanhoucke performs a selection of Glass’s most iconic works.

Through storytelling and live music, the audience is guided chronologically through the composer’s artistic journey — from his early experiments and formative influences to his groundbreaking minimalist works and international recognition.

Dewaele’s narration (performed in Dutch or English, depending on context) reveals the human story behind the composer: creative struggles, decisive encounters and artistic breakthroughs. Between the narrative chapters, Vanhoucke performs works such as Opening (Glassworks), Mad Rush, selected Etudes, Metamorphosis No. 3 and Truman Sleeps, allowing the music to resonate as an emotional extension of the spoken word.

The performance creates a dynamic dialogue between theatre and piano recital — structured, immersive and accessible, while maintaining artistic depth.
